    Tips & tricks

      • Pack essentials in carry-on: wig, shoes, socks, tights, costume, makeup, etc.
      • Bring tape (black/white), gaffers tape, bobby pins, sock glue, scissors, water bottle, warm layers
      • Standing and walking on hotel floors all day is tough – sneakers are a MUST between rounds and for warm up!
      • No extensive swimming before dance day to prevent fatigue

Check the packing list in the Handbook for more information.

    Wigs & hair

    Teams:
All dancers must wear a bun wig for teams. We use a uniform style (Style #1 from our tutorial) to ensure a consistent look.

    Solos:
Dancers may wear any wig style they prefer for solo competitions. You’re welcome to follow our tutorial or check in with Becky or Laura about alternative styles.

Adult dancers have the option of wearing wigs for solos, and will do natural hair for teams.

    Recommended wigs

We recommend ordering from Camelia Rose, which offers the right size and style for Rising Tide dancers. Local options don’t meet our needs — please talk to us before purchasing anything else.

      • Alliyah Wig (Best for very small dancers, likely U10 and under):
        View Alliyah Wig
      • Clodagh Wig (Slightly larger, ideal for dancers over 10 or taller dancers):

    Styling wigs

Styling a wig can seem tricky, but we promise — you’ve got this!
Watch our full Wig Tutorial Video here: Watch the Tutorial

      • For Teams: Use Style #1 from the video (the first section with Quinn).
      • For Solos: Use any style from the video or consult with Becky/Laura.

Note: Parents/dancers must be able to do the full team wig (including styling the front and placing the crown) independently. For solos, dancers can go to a vendor to get their wig styled if they need help (or ask another champ dancer for support).
